CONTEST INFORMATION & RULES
Step 1- Create Team & Business idea · Visit www.yedragsonsden.com for general contest information. · Contact your school teacher sponsor for additional information and support. · Create an innovative business idea individually or as a team! · Teams should consist of approximately 2-5 students. · Decide on a creative name for your business! |

Step 2 - Online Registration
· Each team member must register online by February 12, 2016.
· Each team member must include their individual student email address, school, grade,
team name, phone number, parent email address, and parent phone number.
· Your team will automatically be placed in the junior or senior competition based on
your grade level.

Step 3 – Practice & Refine Business Idea
· Each team will have a teacher sponsor assigned to them from their school, who will
pass information on to the teams, offer guidance, coaching and periodically check on
how students are doing with regard to the competition.
· Visit the Student Resources page at www.yedragonsden.com and familiarize yourself
with the judging criteria and helpful student resources regarding product or service,
marketing, branding and finance.
· Create a 7 minute presentation to pitch your team's business idea which should include
product or service, marketing, branding and finance information.
Also allow for a 5 minute Q&A period.
· Pitch your business idea (product or service, marketing, branding and financial strategy) as a team to a parent/guardian
and your teacher sponsor and discuss their feedback and suggestions BEFORE the first Orientation & Mentorship session.
· All student teams MUST be present at the Orientation & Mentorship session on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at HRES.
· All student teams must arrange their own transportation to and from the all Dragons' Den events.
· The Orientation & Mentorship session will give teams the opportunity to pitch their idea informally to Okanagan College
School of Business students (enactus). Enactus students will then offer student teams their advice and guidance.
· Teams will have approximately seven weeks to incorporate the feedback from parents/guardians, teacher sponsors, and
enactus business students before the community mentorship presentation.
· The Community Mentorship Presentation provides teams with an opportunity to formally pitch their business idea to a
panel of 3-5 members of our local business community and get feedback and guidance, on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at HRES.

applies at the district competition. Teams will formally present to a panel of 3-5
members from our local business community.

judging criteria.
· The Top 5 Senior teams will be notified and will be competing live at the Okanagan College Theatre on May 24, 2016 to a
panel of five local 'dragons!'
· Results for the Top 5 Junior and Senior teams as well as Trade Show winners will be revealed later that night during the
Awards Ceremony.
· All teams that presented at the District Competition on May 2nd & 3rd will move on to the Trade Show and Awards Ceremony at
